Pixel 7

Where did the year go? The Pixel 6 was announced in mid-October 2021 and now its successor is fast approaching, but if rumors are to be believed, it will be almost the same phone.

The Pixel 7 will feature the new Tensor G2 chipset, which will bring major upgrades to the GPU, NPU, modem, and other hardware - basically everything except the CPU. It probably won't release eye-catching test results, but it will offer hardware acceleration for Google's software, which is more important for the Pixel experience.

As for the rest of the phone, leaker Yogesh Brar has released a speculative spec sheet, which sounds like a "find the difference" game. It starts with a 6.3-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It's a tenth of an inch smaller than the Pixel 6's screen, but other than that, it's basically the same. A 90Hz display on a near-flagship device in 2023 won't look impressive.

Then the camera: 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide, which use the same GN1 and IMX381 sensors respectively. The selfie camera would increase to 11MP (instead of 8MP), which will have autofocus (the new Samsung 3J1 sensor has PDAF). And as you can see from the official images, the new model still uses the "visor" design, only the color scheme is different this year.

We hope that the Pixel 7 will have a battery with a capacity of approximately 4700 mAh, no less than the official rating of 4614 mAh of the Pixel 6 battery. to the side. Despite some initial confusion on the subject, the 6 and 6 Pro phones charge at 21-23W, not 30W.

We have already mentioned the G2 chipset, it is assumed that the new model will also come with the Titan security chip, possibly a new version. It is unclear why this was not incorporated into the G2.

Supposedly, the phone will be configured with 8GB of RAM and offer a choice of 128GB or 256GB storage, just like last year. It will launch with Android 13, of course, but current Pixels will quickly update to that version.

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be announced on October 6 and will be pre-ordered the same day (likely delivery date is October 13). Both models are rumored to cost the same as their predecessors, meaning $600 for the Pixel 7 (and $900 for the Pro). For the first time in a few years, the flagship models will be available in India, although we don't yet know the price for that region. Also expect to see the Pixel Watch and a Pixel tablet on 6.
